As part of the Carrefour International du Bois 2022, Preferred by Nature (formerly known as NEPCon) is organising a workshop devoted to addressing the legality and sustainability challenges in the timber industry – from production to the end consumer.
Globally, there is growing support that forest resources should be managed responsibly to meet the social, economic, ecological and cultural needs of present and future generations. Consumers are also demanding that their purchases of wood products will not contribute to forest destruction but rather help to secure forest resources for the future – giving rise to the demand for sustainable timber.
However, businesses within the industry may face several challenges when it comes to ensuring the legality and sustainability of their timber products. Backed by our extensive experience in supporting sustainability commitments in over 100+ countries, Preferred by Nature will be conducting a workshop to address the legality and sustainability challenges in the timber industry.
The scheduled sessions will cover topics as varied as the tools available to meet due diligence requirements, the recent innovations for reinforced traceability (blockchain, lab testing of materials), as well as verification of environmental, social and governance criteria.
Operators present at the Exhibition Park of Nantes for the Carrefour International du Bois 2022 and wishing to attend part or all of the workshops are invited to join us on 2 June from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm in the Maine room of the exhibition centre.
The Carrefour International du Bois 2022 event is free of charge and will be conducted in French. Interested participants are welcome to request your access badge here.
Preferred by Nature will be joined by our partners, blockchain-inspired identity platform iov42 and plant origin tracing & species identification specialists World Forest ID.
This workshop has received support from the LIFE Legal Wood project implemented by Preferred by Nature and partners. The LIFE Legal Wood project is funded by the European Union's LIFE programme.
