Project objective
In addition to scientific inventories of peatlands and identification of potential Natura 2000 sites throughout Slovakia, the project included the elaboration of management plans for six selected peatland areas.
Project approach
The project included scientific inventories of peatlands and identification of potential Natura 2000 sites throughout Slovakia. Furthermore, the project involved elaboration of management plans for six selected peatland areas. The management planning process was stakeholder-based, and broad-based local management committees were set up. Furthermore, through public meetings and calls for written comments, relevant authorities, NGOs, and local citizens were involved in discussions and finalisation of draft management plans.
