The world’s leading organisation for sustainability assurance schemes, the ISEAL Alliance, is launching a new survey that digs into the core of sustainability performance schemes such as FSC: what exactly defines credibility? This essential yet tricky question holds many potential answers.
The definition of credibility will inform and guide the ISEAL Alliance and its members on how to advance assurance schemes to the highest possible level of credibility. The organisation is seeking to create consensus on a set of credibility principles amongst its members and stakeholders.
FSC is among a small group of twelve leading social and environmental schemes to have become full ISEAL members. Examples of other full members are the Rainforest Alliance/Sustainable Agriculture Network, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Fairtrade, which have all committed to following the guidance and codes developed by the ISEAL Alliance.
Stakeholders may have different opinions about the relative importance of assets such as transparency, accessibility, stakeholder inclusion and impact. Have your say in this important survey and help to create strong, robust and lasting certification schemes that deliver real impact on the ground. In line with its focus on stakeholder participation, the ISEAL Alliance provides several options for participation.

About the ISEAL Alliance
The ISEAL Alliance is the world’s leading association for sustainability standards. Under the slogan “making good standards better”, it develops guidance and standards for social and environmental standard-setting. NEPCon and the Rainforest Alliance support the ISEAL Alliance and actively participate in the development of ISEAL Alliance Codes of Good Practice. Both organisations also take best effort to follow the codes in our own work to develop standards and assurance schemes. NEPCon is an affiliate of the ISEAL Alliance.
